Curiosity is not a commitment. Many people take a year to explore their thoughts on faith and church. They might ask others about their beliefs and attend occasional events before feeling comfortable using the word "faith" to describe themselves. There’s no one standing at the door with a clipboard.
Ask you to pray out loud on the spot. Correct you for doing something wrong. Ask you to donate money. Follow up a bunch of times. Act surprised by anything you say.
About an hour. Some singing, some reading out loud, a talk. People stand and sit at times you won't predict — copy whoever is next to you or don't, nobody minds.
Three honest questions to start with
It's important to understand your own feelings about God and faith before seeking answers. Wanting it to be true doesn’t make you naive, and not wanting it doesn’t make you truthful.
Most people find this one uncomfortable, which is usually a sign it's the right question to be sitting with.
Ask them about it. Not the argument — the experience. People are almost always glad to be asked.
